This was said to me by a friend of mine via text. (Thanks, JC!) True, to me that used to be a nice thing to say to someone when you would leave them. A different way of saying "goodbye." But I feel like what he meant was the ACTUAL truth. I still need a lot of help from God, for sure.
I am amazed, I have to admit, that I even LIVED through that whole ordeal. Imagine this (and I know I have referred to this MANY times before): the doctors got everyone together when I was on life support and said "we should pull the plug" because they thought I would be like that forever! Imagine that! That was so upsetting to my family, for sure. And, needless to say, I'm glad that at least believed it was a "possibility" that I would live. (I have heard that the belief was that I would be back to normal, too, and not be a vegetable forever.)
I can't help but think that there is some humor in this. I mean, if the doctors thought I would be a "vegetable" forever, well, they may have been right. I mean, I AM a banana, let's face it. (-: That's better than being non-vegetable and being a "ham" (which I think I used to be.)
(-:
So there is a lot of appreciation, no doubt, for what God has done. And, I know that I will keep my healing in my own prayers. Anyone can also email me and ask me to pray for whatever you want. I definitely want to.
I'll keep you in my prayers, reader. (And, JC, you too!)

Curtis - I have just finished reading the incredible story of your life over the past year. I feel terrible about the message I sent to you on Facebook - not knowing what had been happening in your life. I am deeply inspired, but not incredibly surprised. You were always an extraordinary person and I only ever expected to hear that you were doing extraordinary things. I know that you will keep fighting for "normality" but never settle for it! I will join the band of prayer warriors, even if it is a little late in the process!

Jennifer,
Thank you so much for you kind words here. I am also very glad about our Facebook connection.
This is great to read; I am getting a lot better these days. As far as "feeling terrible about the Facebook message I sent you," please DO NOT feel bad at all. It is a nice change to the 'normalcy' when people think it is the "old me" in operation. And, I hope that the "old me" is on the come back.
(-:
This means a lot. I have had a couple of people say something like it is not surprising because they "thought I could do anything."
You are right, if I don't want to settle for "normalcy" well then, I am doing JUST FINE because "normalcy" is nothing like I am experiencing. (-:
I do have a driving test because you get your DL "renigged" when you have that kind of injury in several states. I don't know if it is that way in Texas, but if I was pulled over in California then they would arrest me. )-: Well, hopefully over August 3rd I will pass the test and that will be okay. We'll see.
I am so glad to get this note. Quick question, how did you know to look here after the facebook connection? Also, where are you and the family residing?
Talk to you later!
Curtis
