Since I'm still in Seattle, I'm updating you guys for the family members who are back in LA with Curt. He had a really good weekend and had alot of awake time, time with his eyes open, and time of interaction. Elaine says he really seems to be 'coming to'. It was very good for him that he spent the weekend with several more visitors, including Nellson from Texas, Travis, Alan and Amanda, and Justin and Melissa.
Curtis is continuing to have more movement in his right side and legs. He is also trying to lift his head and shoulders off the bed! When people enter his room, he will look towards the door to see who has come inside. He has moved his head, his lips, and he is even smiling more often! Next week he will have his follow-up appointment with his surgeon, and we are hoping that it will be time for his jaw to be unwired. If/when this happens, I am so hopeful that he will attempt some verbal communication with us!
The facility is providing him with physical therapy on Mon, Wed and Fri plus occupational therapy on Tue, Thur and Sat. PT is aiming to strengthen the body core, and just this Monday, had Curtis on the edge of the bed in a sitting position. He is also receiving sensory stimulus Mon through Fri. On Tuesday he was taken to Current Events where he was read the newspaper. The family is taking Curtis outside in the Geri chair often and this is also helping Curt to gradually be in a more upright position to strengthen his core.
On Tuesday, Curtis had even more visitors. Dorine visited for several hours while Curtis was spending time outside, and Tammy, Slade, Patrick, Bo and Hanna arrived Monday night from Texas. The kiddos spent time to entertain by singing to Uncle Curt and performing plays for him.
Wednesday was a restful day for Curtis, and he seemed comfortable and peaceful. We are so happy to see all the progress he has made! Thank you to everyone for all your kind words, prayer and support.

Renee,
Thanks for the news. I check daily and sometimes twice to see if there is any news. The picture of Curtis looks like he did in school. He always or most always had a smile on his face. Tell him he has not aged like most of us!! I assume those are your children in the picture. They are so cute. You'll are in my prays and thoughts daily.
